The Walking Horse Report has spoken with riding instructor Barbara Civils of Petersburg, Tenn., following the stretch of storms that damaged many parts of the south this week. Civils' property is located between Belfast and Petersburg. She stated that of the two barns on her property, the older barn, built around the 1930s, was damaged but still serviceable. However, the new barn that housed her horses was hit harder. The front walls and roof were completely destroyed and only a few stalls were left standing of what she called a “catastrophic mess”.
Civils stated, "None of the horses were hurt or hit by anything, so we were able to get them out and moved to the older barn. It had some damage, but the stalls are stable." Civils flew out early Thursday morning for a TWHBEA Clinic in Canada and hasn't been able to completely assess the damage, but thanks everyone for their care and concern.
