It is with a saddened heart that we share our family’s loss of Tam’s beloved Boure’. A remarkably talented horse, he had a love of the showring that was exhibited each time he stepped through the entry gate. Boure’s way of going and his proud presence was thrilling and unmistakable. You knew that when he and Tam came into the ring you were in for a treat.

Boure' was foaled on May 7, 2006; the breeder of this young stallion was Malcolm Graves from Rogersville, Alabama. Robert Watkins Jr. of Bourbonnais, Illinois, had the pleasure of being Boure’s first owner. He was sold to Jimmy and Carol Lackey and was shown successfully under the direction of Dick Peebles.

It was during this time that Tam Brogdon came to love and support Boure’ each time that he was shown. Her Dad, Ben Brogdon, looked relentlessly for a grey horse for Tam. However, there wasn’t one to be found that stole his heart and Tam’s the way Boure’ had. So, on a whim, Ben reached out to the see if Boure’ could be bought, and much to his surprise, he could. Uncharacteristically, Ben did not even ask for a price reduction, just paid the price being asked on February 10, 2010, and never had regrets. The note that Tam wrote thanking him for a “horse of a lifetime that I never expected to have” was far more than enough. Boure’ became a family member on February 3, 2010, a great day that we will always remember. The enjoyment that we shared watching the two of them was a parent’s dream. He was truly our family horse, although Tam was the only family member that ever entered the ring on Boure’.

The showring was a familiar place for this incredible team. Winning over 100 blue rbbons during Boure’ and Tam’s career was a remarkable accomplishment! These wins included roses from the Celebration and multiple World Championship rides, as well as other prestigious shows, that include but aren’t limited to:
The North Carolina Championship - four consecutive years of 15.2 & Under in both amateur and open classes, The Fun Show, The Trainers’ Show, Panama City Beach, Woodbury Lions Club, Columbia and the Fall Classic, among many others.

On behalf of Tam, Ben and our family, I would like to thank all of you for your kindness and support. There are many people who have touched our hearts with their support and sharing wonderful things such as “Boure’ was my favorite horse”, to being there with kind words during the sad situation of his death this week. Beverly Burgess, Dr. Krista Gillam and Dr. Blake Everett , thank you for giving your all as Boure’ fought to the end. I'm sure Tam would also want to thank Boure's trainer Charlie Green for completing the team and miking their victory passes possible.
