Robert “Bobby” Luna, age 74, of Franklin, Tenn., died Friday, March 14, 2008.  He was awarded the National High School All American in football at Huntsville High School and played football and baseball from 1951-1954 at the University of Alabama.  He was an NFL player with the Pittsburg Steelers and San Francisco 49ers as well as assistant coach at the University of Alabama under the direction of Coach Paul Bear Bryant. Luna was the 2006 recipient of the Paul Bear Bryant Award from University of Alabama and was inducted into the Alabama Hall of Fame.


Luna was a veteran of the U.S. Army and longtime owner and operator of Luna Construction, LLC. He was an avid walking horse owner and exhibitor.


Luna was preceded in death by parents J.D. and Ruby Hill Luna.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda Luna, College Grove, Tenn.; sons, Jay (Jill) Luna and Drew (Tina) Luna all of Franklin, Tenn.; sister, June (Donald) Campbell, Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; grandchildren, Julia May “Jamie” Boyd, Jay Kendall Luna, Drew Johnston “D.J.” Luna and Jay Hooper Luna.
