Larry Brown, age 66, of Leesville, SC, went to his eternal resting place on May 5, 2016. He passed away after a long battle with cancer at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Larry was born on February 10, 1950 in Arley, Alabama to the late Opal and Stanley “Snoop” Brown. He is also predeceased by his siblings Stanley Brown, Buddy Brown and Monette Brown. He is survived by his children, Larry Douglas (Brenda) Brown, Christopher (Bethany) Brown, Christie Alexander and Karen Brown. He had eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy Schwarting.
He was a long-time Tennessee Walking Horse trainer. For twenty years before his death, he worked at Rae Martin Stables in Leesville. He worked all over the southeast training horses and rode many state champions. He was inducted into the South Carolina Walking Horse Association Hall of Fame.
In the months before his death, he attended Convent Baptist Church and accepted the Lord as his savior. A special thanks to Pastor Travis Crumpton and his wife Donna, Terry Berry, everyone at Rae Martin Stables and Hospice for their loving care. He is going to be laid to rest beside his mother at the Old Ethridge Cemetary in Ethridge, Tennessee in a private ceremony.
