Billy Goodrich Parks, age 96 of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born on August 16, 1928, in Smithland Community of Lincoln County, TN, to the late James and Gwyn Parks. At the age of seventeen, Billy was baptized at the Lois Church of Christ. He retired from Wilson’s Sporting Goods after many years of service. In his younger years, he enjoyed taking his family to the Smoky Mountains and supporting his wife during the Celebration. In his spare time, you could find him working with horses or mules, cheering on the Tennessee Vols, talking with friends, or playing jokes on his family. In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Alene (Patterson) Parks; brother, James Parks; sisters, Lillian Bowen, Jimmie Dee Reese, and Christine Sullivan; and step-son Richard “Ricky” Womack. Billy is survived by his children, Billy (Teri) Parks, Eddie (Elizabeth) Parks, and Kim Bailey; grandchildren, Katie (Harold) Partin, Kyle Bailey, and Tyler Bailey; great-granddaughter, Hannah Partin; step-grandchildren, Amanda Jakubowski, Matthew Oliver and Joshua Oliver; seven step-great-grandchildren; special caregivers, Kim Burks, Tammy Buckner, and Karen Bratton; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 11:00am – 2:00pm at Jennings-Moore-Cortner with funeral service following at 2:00pm from the chapel. Interment will follow in Lynchburg Cemetery with Kyle Bailey, Tyler Bailey, Beetle Bailey, Lynn Parks, Johnny Woods and Mike Bell all serving as pallbearers.
