Obituary – Carol Gilland
Sunday, July 28, 2024
Carol Jane Gilland was born on May 13th, 1963 in Fort Worth, Texas to Martha Jean Baker and Robert Eugene Chapman and passed away on July 23rd, 2024 in Haltom City, Texas at the age of 61 years old.
Carol grew up in Haltom City and N. Richland Hills Texas with her sister Debbie Chapman and brother Bob Chapman. Carol graduated from Haltom High School and received her Associate's Degree in Interior Design. For the majority of her life, she worked in Medical Administration, first at CSANT and later at Texas Health.
Carol was a life long equestrian. As a youth she was crowned the World Grand Champion Equitation Rider for the TN Walking Horse breed on three separate occasions. Carol recently started riding again and found a new love in Natural Horsemanship that she shared with Garry and their two horses, Annabelle and Sunny.
Additionally, she was an extremely talented artist and seamstress. Her artistic talent was innate, but she learned her sewing skills from her Grandmother and her father. If you could dream it, Carol could create it no matter the project. The words, "I've been thinking..." put fear in her husband's heart. A Disney lover from the youngest age, one of her favorite recent trips was when she and Garry took 7 of their grandchildren and their parents to Disney World as a surprise to the children.
Carol is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Bob Chapman and her brother, Bob Chapman.
Survived by husband, Garry Gilland. Son, Ian (Mallory) Dunaway and grandson, Hudson. Garry's sons Jeff (Shauna), Brad (Meagan), and Brian (Diana) Gilland and their 11 children. Mother, Dr. Martha Chapman, sister, Debbie Chapman and Sister in law, Barbara Chapman. Nieces, Ginny (Tommy) Tanner, Danyelle Woolridge, and nephew, Evan Chapman, extended family and dear friends.
