Barbara Sherrill Brumbaugh, 88, of Hickory, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at her residence.
She was born July 14, 1936 in Catawba County to the late George and Clara Hefner Sherrill. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church in Hickory and retired as a teacher after 35 years of service, having taught at Westmont, Grandview, Central Elementary, and College Park. She was a member of the NCNEA and North Carolina Walking Horse Association. Barbara enjoyed going to horse shows, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Martin Brumbaugh.

Daughter: Sandra Brumbaugh of Hickory
Sister: Betty Ruth Jones of Wilmington
Grandchildren: Danielle Gould, Ericka Parks (and beloved dog, Buster)
Great-Grandchildren: Isla and Harper Gould, Ripken and Ozzy Marie Parks
A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins
Special Friend: Kelly Carlsen
A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at a later date.
